In portrait photography, and other types of photography that require interacting with human subjects, definitely requires plain speak. Many photographers know various technical terms for specific poses, techniques, technical limitations. It requires a knowledge of what technically needs to be accomplished by the photographer, his or her staff, and the subject. What needs to be accomplished can be translated into plain speak through carefully selecting words and phrases that can effectively communicate what the photographer would like an untrained model to do. Without effective communication a photoshoot can be confusing, stressful, and take much longer that needed.
